Meet Edward, his wife Amy and their two children Gabriel and Ava Grace from Las Vegas, NV.
The one word that best describes Edward and Amy's life today is Blessed. If Edward and Amy could change one thing in the world, they would "Want there to be more kindness in the world and they want to bring greater awareness to HLHS (Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.) The way they will go about making this change is to be kind to others and to start a foundation that helps heal the heart. One year from today, Edward and Amy would like to have launched their foundation "Help Heal The Heart" and have raised one million dollars. If Edward and Amy's lives were a movie, it would be about the hope and love they've experienced through the heartache of Ava's condition. The title of their movie would be called "Through Broken Hearts His Hope Shines." We met Edward, Amy and their children while we were on our walk this morning. We saw Edward holding his camera taking a family selfie, Kimberly offered to take their photograph. A quick photograph turned into a "heartfelt" conversation about their daughter Ava Grace who was born with a heart condition called HLSH which means the left side of her heart can't effectively pump blood to her body. Our hearts were moved by their story and we couldn't help but to think how precious life is and how much every day and every breath matters. Little Ava Grace is a beautiful little girl who is full of joy. Edward and Amy have a positive outlook on life and their faith is a testimony of how they are able handle something so difficult. They are a great example of a family who are persevering and giving their best to their family and to others. Today was another intersection where we stopped and met amazing people and heard their story which brought greater awareness and compassion for our fellow sojourners. Thank you Edward, Amy, Gabriel and Ava Grace for touching our hearts today.
