Meet Michael from Irvine, CA.
The one word that best describes Michael's life today is "Plentiful." The reason Michael chose this word is because he is probing every minute of every day. If Michael could change one thing in the world, he would "Want people to be more understanding of each other and to feel heard." The way he would go about making this change is through writing and engaging people in conversations about things that matter to them. One year from today, Michael would like to publish his third book. If Michael's life were a movie, it would be about a writer who drives a bus or van across America and is part of poetry readings and poetry workshops. After his cross country road trip, he would travel to Hawaii and Alaska before heading back to work. The title of Michael's movie would be called "Poet In Motion." I met Michael last summer when he interviewed me for an article in the Laguna Beach Coastline Pilot. We've stayed in touch over the summer and this morning we met for coffee at Heidelberg Cafe. I've been learning about Michael's passion for writing and his gift of storytelling. He's written two books and is working on his third book. Michael's second book "The First Thing Mastered" is a thematic cycle of poems about the formative years of life and was published by Tebot Bach. Hearing Michael talk about his passion for writing is inspiring. He is purposeful and intentional when writing about topics that cause you to think about your values and opinions. I admire people like Michael who are making the most of their lives and using their gifts and talents to make a difference in the world. Continue to inspire as you aspire to learn about yourself and the world in which we live.
