Meet Alex from England, now living in Switzerland.
The one word that best describes Alex's life today is "Awesome." If Alex could change one thing in the world, he would "Want people to take better care of the environment." The way he would go about making this change is to recycle responsibly. One year from today, Alex would like to become more fit. If Alex's life were a movie, it would be about a good guy who likes to travel and meet new people and experience new cultures. The title of his movie would be called "The Traveler." I met Alex today at the SUP Co. store in Laguna Beach where he and his girlfriend Ingrid had signed up to learn how to stand up paddle for the first time. I was their instructor and we had an amazing time paddling down the coast to Moss Point and back. Alex was a little shaky at first but once he found his rhythm, you couldn't stop him. As you can see in the photo, he has such precision and concentration. Alex shared with me that he loves the OC and has watched movies that have given him insights to our colorful community. He is interviewing for a position with his Swiss company who have offices in LA and Orange County. I'm secretly hoping he gets the job and moves here because he would be a great person to hang out with. Alex and I share a love for riding fresh powder! I thought my 50 days on the mountain were a lot, but Alex has managed to get 60 days carving some of the best powder in the world. I was a little jealous to hear this but now I have a new friend in Switzerland to show me the way in his backyard winter wonderland. Alex and Ingrid live one mile from the largest lake in Switzerland and it's perfect for SUP'n. Stand up paddle boarding in Switzerland is growing like crazy! I'm hoping they catch the bug and join the community of SUPer's in Switzerland and share what they learned from SUP Co. Laguna Beach. Europeans are some of my favorite people in the world! They are so culturally diverse and seem to have a genuine interest in engaging in a conversation while sitting in a cafe. I felt as if we were experiencing the "Cafe Life" in the middle of the ocean on our boards. Keep the SUP stoke alive Alex!
