Meet Erin from Houston, TX.
The one word that best describes Erin's life today is "Up." The reason Erin chose this word is because her life is moving in an upward trajectory.
If Erin could change one thing in the world, she would "Want people to have a greater appreciation of industry which is the foundation of our country." The way she would go about making this change is through education.
One year from today, Erin would like to use her understanding of energy to become an activist for fossil fuel.
If Erin's life were a movie, it would be about learning about herself, her ideas and her curiosity. It would be about thinking outside the box of what she was taught as an engineer and trying to understand what makes her happy. The title of her movie would be called "Ideas Matter" and the subtitle would be called "Childlike Wonder."
I met Erin as she was walking on the beach with her friend Nicole. Today was Erin's last day in Laguna so I didn't want to keep her too long so she could enjoy the day without some stranger asking her random questions.
What I thought would be a few minute conversation turned out to be over 20 minutes. Erin has a sharp mind and her answers challenged me to think about the context in which I was approaching people to participate in my Vizual Living 365 project.
Erin's friend Nicole asked me who the most interesting people I've met this year and I thought of the Firebrand Media guys but I must say, Erin and Nicole rank up at the top of the list because of their well thought out answers.
As I reflect on our conversation, I'm asking myself what I liked about my conversation with Erin and Nicole and it's because they challenged me to think about things that matter and illuminated some core values in my own life.
Thank you Erin for challenging my thinking and for bringing me back to why I'm doing what I'm doing.
