Meet Abdul from Kuwait and a senior at the University of Missouri.
Meet Stephen from Missouri also a student at the University of Missouri.
The one word that best describes Abdul's life today is "Lucky." The reason Abdul chose this word is because of the life he is living in a foreign county attending University and surfing in the beautiful coastal community of Laguna Beach.
The one word that best describes Stephen's life today is "Ironic." The reason Stephen chose this word is because his life growing up on a farm is not your typical upbringing that would open the doors to travel to Kuwait and meet amazing people like Abdul.
If Abdul could change one thing in the world he would "remove the stereotypes of the Middle East." The way he would go about making this change would be to use social media to create conversations around the political issues in the Middle East.
If Stephen could change one thing in the world he would "educate and inform people to engage in meaningful conversations about political, social and economic issues." The way he would go about making this change would be to promote reading and to form an opinion and worldview about what you are learning.
One year from today, Abdul would like to have graduated from the University of Missouri.
One year from today, Stephen would like to begin volunteering his time with a worthwhile cause.
If Abdul's life were a movie it would be about the life he wants to live and the title of the movie would be called "Identity Crisis."
If Stephen's life were a movie it would be about his life growing up on the farm and his travels to Kuwait. The title of his movie would be called "The White Sheik of Kuwait."
Abdul and Stephen were surfing at Thalia St. and had just finished when I walked up. They are on Spring break and are planning on surfing while they are here. I recommended they go to San Onofre and experience the longer rides.
They are great conversationalists and have strong convictions about their worldview. I'm inspired by the knowledge and understanding of our future generation of leaders.
I continue to be amazed at how I am able to walk up to someone I've never met before and have an engaging conversation about meaningful topics.
Thanks Abdul and Stephen for making my day and for sharing your story with our community.
